I have always dreamed of what it would be like to write my own blog. I imagined the freedom I’d feel being able to express my thoughts for others to consume. At times, that thought actually terrified me, and I held back. At other times, I have felt a burning in my heart to add to the conversation. The question surfaced, however, add what exactly? What could I add to the conversation?
I have always been a sort of “bookworm.” So much so, I was that kid. You know the one. My parents would have to take my books away for a certain amount of time until I got all of my work done. Yeah, don’t judge me, okay?
I love reading, which eventually led me to a love of writing. At the time, I wanted to write what I felt was missing for youth at my age. There was so much out there. Even “Christian” works got spicy at times. Where were the Christian poets? Where were the novelists who could inspire and engage the imagination without all of the R-rated details? Whose creativity was not lost amid the mission of sharing the message of Christ with others, but complimented it instead? Who was the modern C.S. Lewis and A.W. Tozer of my time? Where were the devotionals that weren’t afraid to go deep into the Word without fear of losing its audience? Where were the innocent comics I remembered reading in the funny pages of a random newspaper at my grandparents’ house?
This is what I craved – real, creative, God-inspired literature. Thankfully, I can say that I have begun to stumble across a myriad of amazing writers whose pens ooze all of these aspects. Still, I got the bug, or I heard the call. Now, I am eager to grow and to share my art with all of you.
You may have noticed that my style is a bit eclectic. If you didn’t pick up on that, trust me, you will. Through this blog, I hope to share my heart and my thoughts through poetry, short-stories, novels, devotions, book reviews, and other works.
It is my prayer that all who come will leave inspired, seen, joyful, refreshed, strengthened, and curious. Inspired to create something of your own. Seen by the One who knows you best. Filled with a joy that doesn’t fade away at the first signs of trouble. Refreshed by the Word and wonder of God. Strengthened for the journey of growing in Christ. Curious to find out what’s next for me and this community.
